Rajat Jain, Vice Chairman, Neva Garments Ltd

Mr. Rajat JainRajat Jain currently leads Neva Garments Ltd, a leader in Thermal wear in India for several years as its Executive Vice Chairman of the Board. He has come into the company to help professionalize the management, build a stronger team, drive sales and distribution, scale up the operations, build value in the brand and lead it to an eventual strategic transaction in the rapidly growing Indian branded consumer apparel market.

Rajat is also a Founder Director in his own entrepreneurial venture in the startup incubation space called PadUp Ventures focusing on providing startup advisory services to early stage tech and digital companies in India.

He is a Non-Executive Independent Director on the Boards of Times Innovative Media (TIM), a Bennet Colman (Times of India) Group Company and TIM Delhi Airport Advertising (TIMDAA), a JV between TIM and the GMR group. He was also, till recently, a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Xerox India and its Managing Director.

Previously, Rajat was the Chairman and Managing Director of the Board of Mobile2win a leading Mobile Value Added Services provider in India, which he built and invested in alongside a group of venture capital investors and merged it later with a larger industry player.

Additionally, he has been actively engaged in the development and restoration of the Braj Region, the Land of Lord Krishna , and has been a long time Trustee of The Braj Foundation, a “Not for Profit” NGO, founded in 2005. He is also on the Advisory Boards of E&H Foundation, and NGO focused on education for the underprivileged in Uttar Pradesh, as well as Fortune Institute of International Business (FIIB), a well-established MBA school in NCR.

In his earlier corporate career of two decades until 2007, prior to M2W, he was a Global SVP and the Managing Director of Walt Disney India. Prior to Disney, Rajat built out Sony MAX, a leading cricket and movies TV network of the Sony Corporation. Rajat has also held senior management positions with the Essel Group, Modi Telstra, Benckiser and Hindustan Lever.

He is a Management Postgraduate from IIM, Ahmedabad and a B. Tech from IIT, Delhi.

Uday Walia, Partner, S&R Associates

Mr. Uday WaliaUday is a Partner at S&R Associates, New Delhi. His main corporate practice covers private equity, mergers and acquisitions, financing, restructuring, structured finance and derivatives, capital markets and general corporate matters. He has been recognized as a leading lawyer by Chambers Asia Pacific for Corporate/M&A and Private Equity. From 1998 to 2004, Uday worked with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London. Uday work spreads across industries such as energy, telecom, hospitality, outsourcing, financial services, amongst others.

Uday is a science graduate with honors in Chemistry from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. He did is Bachelors and Masters in Law from Peterhouse, University of Cambridge. He has also done Legal Practice Course from College of Law London. He is a member of Bar Council, Delhi and Solicitor with Supreme Court of England and Wales.

K. Darshan. Singh, CEO Pan India Consultants and Chairman, Board of Governors, Welham Boys’ School, Dehra Dun

Mr. K. Darshan. SinghMr. Singh is a well known name in the field of education management and consulting. He is the currently the CEO for Pan India Consultants – a leading name in engineering consulting and is also the Chairman of the Governing Board for Welham Boys’ School, Dehra Dun. He is also a member trustee of Sagar Shiksha Sansthan, member of the Governing Board for Sagar International School and has been a Past President of The Doon School Old Boys’ Society.

On the professional front he is the Founder Chairman of the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber and a Member of the State Council of Haryana. His other professional commitments include:

Mr. Singh is an alumnus of Birla Institute of Technology & Science at Pilani. He is a keen mountaineer, educationist and philanthropist.

Pavan Choudhary, MD – Vygon

Mr. Pavan ChoudharyMr. Choudhary is the Managing Director of Vygon, a leading French Multinational in the field of critical care medical devices. He is the Chairman of the Healthcare Committee of the European Business Group (see www.europeanbusinessgroupindia.com). He is also the author of the critically acclaimed Healthcare book, The Rx Factor. He is associated with some of the most respected organisations of India and is a much sought after expert/speaker on management issues.

A keen socio-political thinker he is also the author of path breaking books on management and wisdom like How a good person can really win, When You are Sinking Become a Submarine and Broom & Groom (Co-Author Kiran Bedi). He also hosts the nation building TV show Hum Aisey Kyun Hain on Doordarshan and has written columns for the Times of India and the Financial Chronicle.

Rajit Mehta, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer – Antara Senior Living

Mr. Rajit Mehta Rajit Mehta is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Antara Senior Living, a subsidiary of Max India Limited that pioneers the concept of ‘Age in Place’ by developing senior living communities. He also oversees the New Business Initiatives at Max India and Human Capital function at Max Group, as an advisor.

Rajit is a Non-Executive Director at Max Life Insurance and Max Skill First.

Rajit is the Chairman of the CII task force for Seniors, Co-chair NatHealth senior care vertical and a board member of ASLI (Association of senior living organizations in India).

As Antara’s MD and CEO, Rajit spearheads Antara 2.0 – a rejuvenation strategy that aims to propel the premier senior living organisation towards a new scale of growth and operations. Under his leadership Antara has launched Antara Assisted Care Services comprising Care Homes, Memory Care Homes, Care at Home and Medcare Products thereby creating an integrated eco-system for seniors.

Previously, Rajit has served as the MD & CEO for Max Healthcare where he led a transformation journey for Max Healthcare through a 5C framework, comprising Care, Clinical Excellence, Cohesion, Commitment and Compliance. He also successfully helped Max Healthcare achieve its vision of being the most admired healthcare company in India known for clinical and service excellence. Under Rajit’s leadership, MHC made two large acquisitions which significantly increased its footprint in NCR. He led the seeding of alternate business models in Home Care, Diagnostics and Oncology day care, keeping in mind emerging trends and to secure future growth. Under his watch, the company doubled its earnings (EBITDA), revenue and valuation within a 5 year period.

Rajit has also been a founder member of Max Life Insurance and was instrumental in helping Max Life become an admired and profitable Company. During his tenure at Max Life as Chief Operating Officer, he undertook additional responsibilities as the Chief Transformation Officer and provided oversight on execution of key initiatives; designing and implementing new work systems; aligning key stakeholders; rationalising the cost structure to improve profitability; and laying down a comprehensive change management agenda. Rajit has played a strategic role in helping Max Life expand its distribution footprint across India including facilitating a project to “Revamp Sales processes”. The project culminated in Rajit co-authoring a book titled “Growth Leadership Practices at Max Life”. He was also the co-lead for Project Max Vijay, an innovative retail business model aimed at providing protection and long-term wealth creation opportunities to the underserved segments in India. The initiative was recognized with the Golden Peacock Award at London in September 2008 and Asia Insurance Industry Award – Innovation of the year at Singapore in November 2009.

During his tenure as Chief Operating Officer, Max Life progressed its Quality & Service Excellence journey. This included putting a Service Blueprint in place, implementing a comprehensive outsourcing strategy to impact customer experience and cost and embedding the Max Performance framework in the business.

Rajit mentored the setting up of Max Skill First (MSF), which is now providing learning and skilling solutions to all Max Group companies as well as to a few external organisations in the financial services space.

Prior to Max Life Insurance, he was the Director – Personnel at Bank of America and has also worked with HCL. His total experience spans 3 decades. Rajit is a graduate in Commerce, post graduate in Human Resources and has also attended an Advanced Management Program at INSEAD – France. He is the recipient of the Chairman’s Award at Max Life Insurance.

Sonu Bhasin, Business Author, Independent Director on Boards, Editor-in-Chief: The FAB Magazine, Founder: FAB – Families And Business

Mr. Sonu BhasinSonu Bhasin is part of the Founding Team of FAB – Families and Business. She is also an Advisor to Boards/Top Management, and Non-Executive Director on Boards and has her own consulting firm BlueWaters Advisorie.

Currently, she is a Non-Executive Director on the Board of PNB Metlife India, Max Speciality Films, Whirlpool of India, Mahindra First Choice Services Limited, Vodafone Mobile Services Limited, Sutlej Textiles and Industries Limited and Transcorp International Limited. Additionally, she is on the advisory board of CIEL: Centre for Investment Education and Learning, Dharma Life and My Mobile Magazine.

Ms. Bhasin has headed the retail bank and branch banking for two of the top five private sector banks in India as President, Axis Bank and Group President, Yes Bank. Her last employment was as Chief Operating Officer at Tata Capital overseeing Travel Forex and Cards | e-Nxt Financials Limited. Tata Capital Limited is a subsidiary of Tata Sons Limited.

Her foray into banking was as one of the first private bankers in India and she headed the North and East regions of the country for ING Barings Private Bank. Before that, she started her career as a TAS Officer with the TATA Group. She worked as a TAS officer for 13 years wherein she worked in multiple roles in Tata Housing Development Company Limited, Rallis India, Tata Press and National Council of Applied Economic Research.

Subsequently, she joined ING Barings Private Bank & ING Vysya Bank and worked there as Head: Investment and Third Party Product Development and Head Marketing: Wealth Management. She then joined Axis Bank and worked there in multiple roles such as: Senior Vice President and Business Head of Wealth Management, Private Banking and Personal Investment Products; President Retail Financial Services and President Retail Banking. She then joined Yes Bank as Group President – Branch Banking before joining Tata Capital.

She has spent a large part of her professional life working closely with the Owners of Family Businesses. As a Banker she helped many Family Business Owners work their way successfully within the family related complexities. She has personally worked with Family Business Owners and helped resolve matters such as bringing the Inheritors to the Business, organizing the Governance of the Business and the Family and dealing with cultural issues in the Families. She is also author of The Inheritors -Stories of Entrepreneurship and Success – Published by Penguin Random House. It is scheduled to release in November 2017.

Sonu has completed her MBA from Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) in 1987. She is a 1985 graduate from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University wherein she pursued B.Sc. (Hons). Mathematics.

Syed Safawi, Chief Executive Officer – Viom Networks

Mr. Syed SafawiMr. Safawi is the Chief Executive Officer of Viom Networks. He has over 24 years of rich experience in FMCG and Telecom, and is slated amongst the top professionals instrumental in bringing about transformational and paradigm shift in the businesses both in the Indian as well as international markets.

Prior to Viom, Mr. Safawi was working with Reliance Communication Ltd. as the President and CEO of the Wireless Business and Chairman of the Reliance Management Board. In little over two years, he was instrumental in taking the company to a customer base of over 150 mn, revenue of $4.0bn and EBITDA to $1bn. Before this, he was with Bharti Airtel Ltd. as Executive Director responsible for East as well as West India operations along with International Wireless operations of Bharti Airtel Ltd. He was also responsible for the Global Calling Cards business of Airtel as well as the B2B business of Mobile services. His longest association has been with Coca-Cola, for over 11 years, where he was last based at Vietnam as Country Manager and CEO managing business for Indochina and Malaysia. He has also served on the boards of several companies in India and globally in Coca-Cola, Bharti Group and Reliance Group.

He is an MBA from India and alumnus of The Wharton School, USA. His key strengths lie in architecting and driving transformation strategies, facilitating operational excellence, organization development and building a profitable business.
