Anil Chawla, Chief Executive Officer, DE Shaw India
Mr Anil Chawla is the Managing Director of D.E. Shaw & Co India and the head of D.E. Shaw’s group’s private equity activities in India. The DE Shaw group, a global investment and technology development firm has approximately USD 30 billion in investment and committed capital.
Prior to this Mr. Chawla held the position of Managing Director at GE India. At GE, he led the corporate growth team which was setup to triple revenues in India in three years to $3 billion by 2008. Prior to GE, he was the Head of Capital Markets Group at American Express Bank and contributed at various levels at IL&FS and Citibank.
Mr. Chawla is highly regarded for his expertise in Business Building, Investing, and Leadership Development. He has been recognized by Business Today as one of the 25 youngest high achieving CEOs in India in 2002.
Mr. Chawla is a Commerce Graduate from Panjab University, a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and a Masters in Accounting from the Institute Of Management Accountants, London, UK
Arun Kapoor, Group Telecom Advisor & MD at Quippo Telecom infrastructure limited
Mr Kapoor is currently the Group Telecom Advisor & MD at Quippo Telecom infrastructure limited. Arun Kapur has over 37 years of vast experience in leading organizations across the globe and is one of the top management professionals in India. A C-level executive for the last 16 years, he has personally led and successfully closed some of the marquee M&A transactions ranging in value from US$ 150 Million to US$ 2.8 Billion. Being associated with the SREI Group for over 8 years now, Arunco-founded and led the group’s entry in the telecom infrastructure business as Group President and Managing Director, Quippo Telecom Infrastructure Ltd. Starting from a humble beginning – the company was incorporated in 2005 with a seed capital of just US$ 100,000 – today, has a revenue of nearly US$ 1 Billion with 54% EBITDA and an enterprise valuation in excess of US$ 5 Billion. Post the merger of the passive infrastructure businesses of Quippo Telecom and Tata Teleservices; he was designated as the Chief Executive Officer of the new entity Viom Networks Limited (formerly Quippo-WTTIL).
Prior to SREI Arun has worked with Xerox (11 years) both in India and overseas, and was instrumental in making Xerox a market leader in India with over 65% market share.
In 1998, he joined Usha Martin Telekom Limited (UMTL) as Managing Director & CEO and was instrumental in making the company the market leader in less than twelve months. Subsequently, he took over as the Group CEO of Usha Martin Infotech and was responsible for creating a successful joint venture with the Samsung Group for their captive software requirements.
Atul Sobti, Former Global CEO – Ranbaxy
Mr. Sobti is the Publisher & Editor of Friday Gurgaon, a weekly 24 page, full colour newspaper of Gurgaon. He has earlier had a distinguished 34 year corporate career, across various industries. Till August 2010 he was the Managing Director & CEO of Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd and prior to that he was the Executive Director – Business Operations at Hero Honda Motors Ltd.
Mr. Sobti did his schooling at The Lawrence School, Sanawar; and has graduated in Economic Honours from St. Stephens College, Delhi. He completed his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA).
Kashinath Memani, Former Chairman and Country Managing Partner, Ernst & Young India
Mr. Kashinath Memani is well renowned for his expertise in Business and Corporate Advisory, Foreign Taxation and Financial Consultancy.
He is a member of the Expert Committee of the Ministry of the Company Law for the amendment of the Companies Act, the National Advisory Committee on Accounting Standards (NACAS) and the Accounting Standard Board of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of India. Mr. Memani has served as the Chairman of External Audit Committee (EAC) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He has been the only Indian to be appointed in this committee by the IMF.
He serves on Boards and Expert Committees of several institutions and Public/Private Companies like ICICI Ventures, HT Media, AEGON India Business Services and DLF. Mr Memani is also member of the Ernst & Young Global Council. He is a Law Graduate from the University of Calcutta and a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
K. Darshan. Singh, CEO Pan India Consultants and Chairman, Board of Governors, Welham Boys’ School, Dehra Dun
Mr. Singh is a well known name in the field of education management and consulting. He is the currently the CEO for Pan India Consultants – a leading name in engineering consulting and is also the Chairman of the Governing Board for Welham Boys’ School, Dehra Dun. He is also a member trustee of Sagar Shiksha Sansthan, member of the Governing Board for Sagar International School and has been a Past President of The Doon School Old Boys’ Society. On the professional front he is the Founder Chairman of the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber and a Member of the State Council of Haryana. His other professional commitments include:

Pavan Choudhary, MD – Vygon
Mr. Choudhary is the Managing Director of Vygon, a leading French Multinational in the field of critical care medical devices. He is the Chairman of the Healthcare Committee of the European Business Group (see www.europeanbusinessgroupindia.com). He is also the author of the critically acclaimed Healthcare book, The Rx Factor. He is associated with some of the most respected organisations of India and is a much sought after expert/speaker on management issues.
A keen socio-political thinker he is also the author of path breaking books on management and wisdom like How a good person can really win, When You are Sinking Become a Submarine and Broom & Groom (Co-Author Kiran Bedi). He also hosts the nation building TV show Hum Aisey Kyun Hain on Doordarshan and has written columns for the Times of India and the Financial Chronicle
Pervez Ahmed, CMD Aventus Healthcare, Former MD Max Healthcare
Mr Ahmed was born into an illustrious family in Shillong and is the eldest son of India’s 5th President.
He completed his MBBS from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune in 1970 and thereafter proceeded to New York, where he completed his Residency in Internal Medicine and Fellow-ship in Cardiology. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular diseases as well as a Certified Medical Director. In his career he has initiated 3 different hospital Greenfield projects: – Escorts Heart Institute, BL Kapoor Hospital (New Delhi) and Max Healthcare. He has served as a Board Member of Max Healthcare Institute Ltd. from 2005 to 2007 and then in the capacity of the Executive Medical Director from 2007-2009, before being re-designated as the CEO and MD of Max Healthcare Institute Ltd. in Jan 2009. As the CEO and MD at Max Healthcare he grew the revenues ten times in 4 years.
Dr Pervez Ahmed is married to Dr Anjum Ahmed and they have two daughters. He has varied interests from sports to hunting to cooking. He loves to spend time with his family and his dogs
Rajeev Karwal, Founder and CEO – Milagrow
Mr Karwal is one of India’s top names in the retail business. In a career spanning over 27 years, he has worked with some of the best companies in the consumer and retail space. His impeccable track record made him directly debut at the 43rd position in the Economic Times India’s Most Powerful CEOs list in 2004. Rajeev’s brand building efforts at LG, ONIDA, Philips and Electrolux are part of marketing folklore. His spectacular turnaround effort at reviving Philips Consumer Electronics and Electrolux also earned him the tag of an ace turnaround specialist. In 2002 he was featured in Business Today’s Top 25 Hot Young Rising Stars of India Inc. In 2001 he won India’s Young Manager Trophy, awarded by Confederation of Indian Industry. After stepping down from the post of President & CEO of the Consumer Durables vertical of Reliance Retail, he founded Milagrow Business & Knowledge Solutions in 2007, to help growth seeking enterprises with unique ‘Venture Catalyst’ approach. Mr. Karwal served CII’s National Core Committee on Retail in 2006-07. In 2005 he was the National Chair, Consumer Durables, and a Member of the National Council of CII. From 2000-2003 he was the Consumer Electronics and Manufacturers Association (CETMA) President, (now CEAMA). For 2003, he was a member of the National Council of FICCI. He now heads the Retail Panel ‘Chief Ministers Group’ at FICCI, to influence the framing of the right policy framework for the growth of the Retail Sector in India.

Rajeev Gujral, CEO – International Hotel Management Services (IHMS South Africa Pty).
Mr. Gujral is currently the CEO for International Hotel Management Services (IHMS South Africa Pty).IHMS (SA) is a 50:50 joint venture company between Taj Group of Hotels and Tata Africa. He is responsible for the Development and Operations of all Hotels in sub-Saharan Africa Hotels, reporting to the Board of Directors of IHMS (SA) Pty with active support from all departments of the Taj Group of Hotels.
Mr. Gujral has been with the Taj Group for 38 years in various positions. He has held senior positions with the Taj Group of Hotels and was the Sr. V. P. – Merger, Acquisitions and Development for the Group prior to this position. He was responsible for the overall growth of the Taj Group and all M & A activities. He has been instrumental in the key strategic initiatives for the Group including a JV to promote wildlife safaris in India.

Santosh Desai, MD & CEO, Futurebrands
Mr. Desai is currently the MD & CEO of Future brands. Prior to this he was the President of McCann-Erickson, one of India’s premier advertising agencies. Mr. Desai spent 21 years in Advertising and was strategically involved in building key brands for a range of local and multinational clients. He has been a guest lecturer at various national & international universities and has addressed the global management boards of several multinationals including Microsoft, Philips, Hershey’s, Unilever, Coke and Reckitt Benckiser. His principal area of interest lies in studying the relationship between culture and brands. An academic at heart, he writes regularly on contemporary Indian society and on subjects related to Marketing. Recently he published his book on India titled “Mother Pious Lady”.
Mr. Desai is a post-graduate from IIM Ahmedabad.
Sanjeev Agarwal, Senior Managing Director, Helion Ventures and Former Founder of Daksh
Sanjeev Aggarwal is a co-founder of Helion and serves on the Boards of IndiaHomes, Amba Research, Eye-Q, MakeMyTrip, Global Talent Track, Azure Power, Nine dot Nine Mediaworx and Vienova. Prior to Helion, Sanjeev was the Founder and CEO of Daksh, having been with the company from its inception in 2000 to its acquisition by IBM in 2004. Sanjeev ran the company as its CEO till June 2006. Daksh was a pioneer in BPO sector in year 2000 and had over 20,000 employees by June, 2006. During this period, Daksh was rated as the World’s Best Managed BPO company (Black Book of Outsourcing) and was ranked as the #1 employer in Indian BPO market by IDC. Sanjeev was chosen “Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the year” in 2002.
Prior to founding Daksh, he worked for 15 years with leading technology companies serving the domestic Indian market. Sanjeev led the Strategic Initiatives at Motorola India. He worked with Digital Equipment Corporation in delivering technology solutions and was recognized as the “Decathlon Winner”, a recognition given to top 1% managers worldwide. He also served as the CEO of 3COM India.
Sanjeev has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA.
Suneeta Trivedi, Member Planning- Postal Services Board
Mrs. Trivedi is currently a Member of the Postal Services Board India and is responsible for drawing out the National Postal Policy of India, handling projects for revenue generation and Reformulation of the Indian Post Office Act. Prior to this she was the General Manager (Postal Life Insurance) where she set up the Investment Board and Investment Division, for which clearances and sanctions were obtained from the Cabinet. Before that she was Chief General Manager (Business Development), where she established the entire Business Development Directorate which at present is showing over 12% growth in revenue generated from the premium products. Earlier in her career she has handled assignments in Technology, Modernization, Logistics, Human Resource Management, Estate Development, Budget and Financial Management in Gujarat, J&K, U.P. Delhi and Assam.
Mrs. Trivedi has written journals and papers on Productivity and Sustainable Development and of Public Service organizations. She has done her Masters in English from Delhi University and her Advanced Management Course from IIM Ahmedabad. An avid golf player she has won many National Level Golf tournaments.
Syed Safawi, Chief Executive Officer – Viom Networks
Mr. Safawi is the Chief Executive Officer of Viom Networks. He has over 24 years of rich experience in FMCG and Telecom, and is slated amongst the top professionals instrumental in bringing about transformational and paradigm shift in the businesses both in the Indian as well as international markets.
Prior to Viom, Mr. Safawi was working with Reliance Communication Ltd. as the President and CEO of the Wireless Business and Chairman of the Reliance Management Board. In little over two years, he was instrumental in taking the company to a customer base of over 150 mn, revenue of $4.0bn and EBITDA to $1bn. Before this, he was with Bharti Airtel Ltd. as Executive Director responsible for East as well as West India operations along with International Wireless operations of Bharti Airtel Ltd. He was also responsible for the Global Calling Cards business of Airtel as well as the B2B business of Mobile services. His longest association has been with Coca-Cola, for over 11 years, where he was last based at Vietnam as Country Manager and CEO managing business for Indochina and Malaysia. He has also served on the boards of several companies in India and globally in Coca-Cola, Bharti Group and Reliance Group.
He is an MBA from India and alumnus of The Wharton School, USA. His key strengths lie in architecting and driving transformation strategies, facilitating operational excellence, organization development and building a profitable business.
